Signifying bravery, The Tiger is the third sign in the Chinese Horoscope. The ancient Chinese believed that the Tiger was the sign that kept away the three main tragedies of a household, which were fire, thieves and ghosts.

People born under the Chinese birth sign of The Year of the Tiger are capable of being very sympathetic. They are also sensitive, deep thinkers. But look out, because they can be very short-tempered!

Tigers are generally well respected by others but sometimes they come into conflict with older people or anyone in authority.

They often find it hard to make up their minds, which can end up in either a poor decision made in haste or a good decision when too late. Tigers are often suspicious of others, but they are very courageous and powerful.

Were you born in the Year of the Wood Tiger?

You were born in The Year of the Wood Tiger if your birthday is between 26 January 1914 and 13 February 1915, or 23 January 1974 and 10 February 1975.

wood tiger print

People born in the Year of the Wood Tiger do not tend to try and take over or take charge like other Tigers, which makes them more adaptable to working with others and they will allow others to do the work.

Wooden Tigers are more stable and warm, which draws people to them and makes them very popular.

Tigers with the element or attribute of wood in their Chinese horoscope sign are completely unselfish and are more practical than their counterparts born in other Years of the Tiger.

Wood Tigers will give their full attention and time to those who need it but they still have a slightly volatile temper and are prone to short attention spans, which they need to control for the sake of their loved ones and friends.

Also when studying or working, people born in the Year of the Wood Tiger must ensure that they focus properly on a particular area rather than becoming distracted by a wide range of topics. They should also avoid gambling as they can easily become addicted.

However, Wood Tigers are extremely reliable and nothing will allow them break a promise once it is made.

Freddie Ljungberg has a tiger tattoo

Cor! Freddie Ljungberg has a tiger tattoo on his stomach and he shows it off very nicely in some pics from a Calvin Klein photo shoot!

Former Swedish, Arsenal and West Ham Soccer player Freddie Ljungberg is currently recovering from injury but has recently become well known in the USA while playing for Seattle Sounders FC in Major League Soccer.

Freddie Ljungberg was the captain of the Swedish national soccer team until he retired from international soccer after Euro 2008.

Until 2007, Freddie Ljungberg was the model for Calvin Klein underwear. He has also represented  Nike, Procter & Gamble and L’Oreal. Currently he represents Puma and Pepsi.

This video that contains photos from the Calvin Klein photo shoot, clearly shows Freddie Ljubgberg’s tiger tattoo on his stomach, but sadly we only get a glimpse of one of the two tiger tattoos he has on his back :(

David Beckhams Tattoos

David Beckham's Hindi Tattoo

David Beckham, the former English international football star, has embraced body art in a big way since he had his first tattoo inked following the birth of his son Brooklyn in March 1999. However, David Beckham also has a tattoo that reinforces one of the first rules of getting a tattoo done in a language that is not your own – and that is to have the tattoo professionally translated!

In 2000, for his third tattoo, Beckham opted to have his wife’s name, Victoria, inked on his inside lower left arm. However, he thought it would be less tacky to have it done in Hindi.

In India, over 180 million people speak Hindi as their first language and a further 300 million learn it as their second language. Any one of these people would instantly notice that Victoria has been misspelled as Vihctoria.

This is yet another example of how important it is to get your Chinese Year of the Tiger tattoo professionally and Chinese Tattoo Designs offers this service.

Professional Chinese translator Yingying says:

“My goal is to help people explore the beauty and complexity of Chinese symbols safe in the knowledge that they are dealing with the pro. The Main reason that western people make Chinese Tattoo Mistakes is because they use free translation either online or offline”

Free Tony the Tiger

Free Tony the Tiger

Back in March I featured the picture of a Tiger Tattoo on someone who is very involved in the Free Tony the Tiger campaign, Tigergal62.

This picture shows how the tattoo is developing into a stunning Tiger Tattoo. Tigergal was born in The Year of the Tiger and is a Water Tiger, which is why she has had the attribute of water incorporated into her Year of the Tiger tattoo.

In the meantime the campaign to Free Tony the Tiger continues, with the aim being to persuade his owner to hand him over to Big Cat Rescue, where he will get the proper care and space that he deserves.

Tiger Gal blogs about Tony the Tiger and other tigers at Tiger News, where you can find other Free Tony the Tiger links to various sites that support the campaign including Free Tony the Tiger, which is organising a Tweet for Tony Campaign on Twitter.

Girl with the tiger tattoo

Girl with the tiger tattoo

This picture The Girl with the Tiger Tattoo is another great find, thanks to Google alerts.

I love the way the contrast between the sunlight and shade casts a spotlight on the Tiger Tattoo. The photo was taken in Melbourne, Australia but I can’t help wondering what the girl looks like too!

I am delighted that the photographer, Paul Dodson gave me express permission to reproduce this great picture of a Tiger Tattoo. You can find more of Paul’s excellent work at Just big photos.
